I’d like to share some information which, if I remember when I feel stressed, always gets me out of my funk and brings me back to the present moment.
Here’s some big science-y numbers…
As far as we’re aware, the Universe is 13.7 billion years old. Our Sun is 4.6 billion years old. The Earth is 4.5 billion years old (about middle aged). Life on Earth arose around 3.7 billion years ago. Early humans began to evolve from apes around 6 million years ago. Modern humans evolved around 200,000 years ago.
Now a not-so-big number…
The average human lifespan is 81 years.
Remembering this always puts things in perspective for me, and reminds me that every moment is precious.
As the Dalai Lama said:
“We are visitors on this planet. We are here for ninety, one hundred years at most. During that period we must try to do something good, something useful with our lives. Try to be at peace with yourself and help others to share that peace. If you contribute to other people's happiness, you will find the true goal, the true meaning in life.”
Life’s short – let’s choose to live it well!
