The power of choice

A few years ago, I was in a bit of a pickle. I felt lost, had no idea of how to get out of the rut I was in, and I was generally just disappointed that life wasn’t going the way I had expected.

I was at the point of complete apathy and demotivation, when a wise person spoke the following 4 words to me:

“You always have choices!”

Simple words, yet this was a completely liberating and empowering lightbulb moment for me.

I had somehow forgotten that I was the choice maker in my life, and that if I wanted a different situation, I just had to choose to change it.

After choice, comes action. I now choose to take the following 2 actions every day (would highly recommend if you’re feeling stuck, low, or anything like I was!):

- Gratitude practice: before going to sleep, I think of 3 things to be thankful for in life

- Take a small step to improve health, work-life and home-life (small actions done consciously and consistently create habits which over time lead to significant change). This ultimately creates the life I want to live step-by-step.

As humans, we have the gift of choice to be able to create our own lives through the actions we take – let’s use it!
